Een zeldzaam schilderij van Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) is in New York verkocht voor 236,4 miljoen dollar (204,1 miljoen euro). Het werk Bildnis Elisabeth Lederer is daarmee het op een na duurste kunstwerk dat ooit werd geveild, meldt veilinghuis Sotheby's. Het duurste geveilde kunstwerk is Leonardo da Vinci's Salvator Mundi, dat in 2017 voor 450,3 miljoen dollar (388,8 miljoen euro) bij Christie's werd verkocht.
